The Dedication Series are created with the passion to provide families a dedicated alternative to what is available from most funeral homes. Each one is designed and turned by hand. Finished with numerous coats of lacquer and buffed to a warm deep finish, it is secured closed with a wood threaded flange and top.

This urn is made from Maple wood, an American favorite. Best known for syrup and displays of red, orange and yellow each fall, Maples grow throughout the Eastern and Central United States. Trees can reach 130 feet tall and the wood color varies from creamy white to grey to reddish-brown depending on the species. This piece is Spalted, a natural breakdown that produces dark contrasting lines creating dramatic figuring with beautiful results. In addition, this piece exhibits additional decorative design as a result of the Ambrosia beetle. Appropriately referred to as Ambrosia Maple, this wood is highly sought after for wood turning.
Working with a new tree service who just set up shop just down the road from our shop, we were invited to sample some of the wood stacked on the yard. Clark kept coming back to this Spalted Maple - between the crouches and the gnarly bark surface, we had to bring back a few pieces to work with. It was the neighborly thing to do.
